ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Chapman University celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India at the International Peace Plaza on January 25, becoming the first US university to commemorate the occasion. More than 50 attendees, including students, faculty members, and guests, proudly observed the Indian flag being hoisted at 10:30 am.
Two prominent figures from the California startup ecosystem, Anshuman Sinha and Ashish Saboo, were invited to the event by P. K. Shukla, Ph.D., C.P.I.M, Associate Professor of Management at Chapman’s Argyros College of Business & Economics at Chapman University. Anshuman Sinha and Ashish Saboo are co-founders & CEOs of Startup Talent and Startup Steroid, respectively, and have actively supported various startups as angel investors, significantly contributing to the nation’s bustling startup ecosystem and GDP.
The university took this opportunity to recognize the outstanding business leadership of Sinha and Saboo. Chapman University and the Argyros College of Business and Economics honored them with the Certificate of Recognition during The Chapman University Indian Community Leadership Awards Program. Additionally, they received Chapman University’s Certificate of Appreciation for their ongoing commitment and contribution as community leaders to Indian community events over the years.
Home to over 60,000 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Orange County is proud of its thriving Indian community, with Irvine holding the highest population of Asian Indian residents according to the latest US Census data.
As remarked by Professor Shukla, who has been with Chapman University for 39 years, “It is important for our students, who strive to be global citizens, to learn about India’s business, economics, political, and cultural global impacts.”
